County Offers Free Storm Debris Removal

The Calvert County, Md., Board of County Commissioners, through the Calvert County Department of Public Works Solid Waste Division, will accept residential tree/green debris resulting from the March 1 snow storm free of charge at the Appeal and Barstow landfills through Saturday, March 28, 2009. All commercial haulers will be charged the standard fee for all tree/green debris.
 
Appeal Landfill will accept residential tree/green debris between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Barstow Landfill will accept debris between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday. After March 28, 2009, tree/green debris must be taken to Appeal Landfill for a fee.
 
Tree/green storm debris is limited to un-bagged leaves, trees, limbs, branches, bushes, shrubs, etc. All other storm debris including construction and demolition debris (such as carpeting, drywall, wood, roofing or insulation) will be accepted at the Appeal Landfill only and a fee will apply.
