Chester Bergen - Senior staff reporter
DUNKIRK, MD - In the fourth armed robbery in less than a week, and the second involving prescription drugs, over $100,000.00 dollars worth of oxycontin was stolen at gunpoint from the CVS Pharmacy in Dunkirk.   According to a press release from the Calvert Investigative Team (CIT), an armed robbery occured around 10PM on December 2nd at the CVS pharmacy in Dunkirk.  DFC John “Marty” McCarroll and Dep. Stephen Esposito of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene but the suspect had already fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Initial investigation by Det. Homer Rich of the Calvert Investigative Team determined that a lone suspect, described as a white male, approximately 5’8”, wearing dark clothes and a ski mask, entered the business just before closing.  The suspect walked to the pharmacy area undetected by the management, made contact with two pharmacists (one male and one female) and a customer and announced a robbery.  Witnesses reported that the suspect displayed what appeared to be a chrome colored handgun and ordered all three behind the pharmacy counter.

The suspect then ordered the customer and the female employee to the floor and forced the male pharmacist to give him oxycontin. The male pharmacist put the oxycontin in a plastic bag that the suspect handed him.  No shots were fired and no one was injured.

According to the press release, the stolen oxycontin has a street value of over $100,000.00.
