PORT REPUBLIC, MD - On the evening of Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at approximately 8PM, a house fire at the home of Gary Reynolds, in Port Republic, MD, was called in to 9-1-1 by neighbors. Over 45 fire fighters from fire companies in St. Leonard, Prince Frederick, Huntingtown, Benedict, Solomons Island, and Hughesville responded to the call and were able to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes.
Preliminary investigation indicates the fire originated in a 2nd floor bedroom of the two-story, wood-framed house and that smoke alarms were present. There were no injuries reported.
The house was completely destroyed by the conflagration. Damages are estimated at $225,000. Mr. Reynolds is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
