On August 09, 2011 at approximately 11:04 a.m. units from the Calvert County Sheriffâ€™s Office and the Maryland State Police Barrack â€śUâ€ť responded to Capital One Bank located at 10840 Town Center Boulevard in Dunkirk, Calvert County, Maryland for a robbery. A black male entered the bank and demanded money from a teller. The teller complied and the suspect subsequently fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. It was also determined that a Capital One Bank located in Silver Hill, Maryland had been robbed by the same individual approximately 45 minutes prior.
On August 11, 2011 forensic evidence obtained from at the Capital One Bank led detectives to a possible suspect named Moshood Abiola Shonekan of Bowie, Maryland. On August 12, 2011 members from the Calvert Investigative Team obtained an arrest warrant for Shonekan and a search and seizure warrant for his residence. At approximately 6:30 p.m. members from the Calvert County Sheriffâ€™s Office, the Maryland State Police Barrack â€śUâ€ť, Prince Georgeâ€™s County Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation located Shonekan gambling in a park near his residence. A short foot pursuit occurred and Shonekan was taken into custody. He was transported to the Calvert County Sheriffâ€™s Office and was interviewed by Sgt. T. Fridman of CIT and Det. Canada of the Prince Georgeâ€™s County Police Department. Shonekan admitted to the above two robberies. The investigation is still on-going and Shonekan is a subject of interest in several other bank robberies that occurred in Prince Georgeâ€™s County.
