After an intensive month long investigation that included assistance from the press and citizens, members of the CIT (Calvert Investigative Team) arrested two suspects in connection with the string of purse snatchings from vehicles at Bayfront Park in Chesapeake Beach.

The two fugitives, Ryan Baird, (19 years old from Montgomery County) and Jerry Tasker, (24 years old from Montgomery County) were identified as the subjects entering parked vehicles and stealing purses. The subjects used the victim’s credit cards to make purchases at Target Stores in Prince George’s and St. Mary’s County. According to the press release, the total amount of thefts and damages to the vehicles is over $25,000.00.

Baird and Tasker were caught on store video surveillance. Baird is allegedly seen here in the surveillance photo. Notice the prominent facial moles in the mug shot match up with the photo. Six Crime Solvers tips were received which provided information on their whereabouts and identity.
With the assistance of the Fairfax County Police, Mason Station Detectives, a search warrant was executed at Tasker’s ex-wife’s residence in Falls Church, Virginia, where Baird was found sitting on a couch and Tasker was located hiding under a bed. Both were taken into custody without incident.
Tasker and Baird are being held in Virginia on fugitive charges and are awaiting an extradition hearing. The warrants in Maryland are for Theft over $500, Theft under $500, Theft Scheme, MDOP under $500, and Theft of Credit Card.
