Calvert County Public Schools is now accepting requests for early entry to pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade. According to Maryland State Department of Education policy and guidelines, students entering pre-kindergarten must be four years old by September 1, 2008, students entering kindergarten must be five years old by September 1, 2008 and students entering first grade must be six years old by September 30, 2008.
Parents may request an exemption to this policy by submitting a written request for consideration to the supervisor of Early Childhood program.

Children being considered for early entry to pre-kindergarten must be four years old by November 1, 2008, meet income guidelines for pre-kindergarten, and demonstrate academic deficits warranting early intervention.
November 1, 2008 and will be placed in kindergarten for up to six weeks for observation. During this time, their performance will be evaluated and grade acceleration considered.

Parents or guardians must submit a written request for consideration of early entry to pre-kindergarten between June 1, 2008 and January 10, 2009. Written requests for early entry to kindergarten must be submitted by June 1, 2008.
