The Calvert County Public Schools’ Middle School Summer Arts Academy will be held Monday through Friday, June 16 to 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day at Huntingtown Elementary School for those students entering grades 6, 7 and 8 in the fall of 2008.
The Calvert County Public Schools’ Elementary School Summer Arts Academy will be held Monday through Friday, June 23 to 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day at Huntingtown Elementary School for those students entering grades 4 and 5 in the fall of 2008.
Tuition is $135 per student attending schools in Calvert County; $185 per student attending schools not in Calvert.
Course areas include band, chorus, orchestra, theater, dance and visual arts. Each day all students will have two sessions in their major course area, one session in two other arts areas of their choice and a short summer reading session.
Bus transportation will be provided to and from Calvert Middle School, Mill Creek Middle School and Windy Hill Middle School or parents may drive students directly to and from Huntingtown Elementary School. Students must provide their own lunch and a book for summer reading. In addition, students in band and strings will need to provide their instrument and necessary supplies.
A completed application and a check made to: Calvert County Public Schools must be postmarked by May 15, 2008. Applications are available from art, band, chorus, and string teachers at all elementary and middle schools or on the Calvert County Public Schools’ website

A program showcasing the students’ talents will be given on Friday afternoons from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for family and community members.
