CCSO

On March 31, 2012 at 1322 hours Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Super 8 Motel located at 40 Commerce Lane Prince Frederick, MD to check the welfare of a male that was hanging out of a second story window.

Deputies arrived on scene and located the victim, Joseph Kirk Nguyen (44 year old male from Lusby, Maryland), standing on an awning outside of a second story window.

Mr. Nguyen refused to go back into the window.

He climbed from the awning up onto the roof of the building.

Mr. Nguyen situated himself on top of a roof peak at the rear of the hotel.  Mr. Nguyen was talking on his cell phone and refused to talk to deputies on the scene.

Several Negotiators from the C.C.S.O. Conflict Management Team arrived on scene.

They attempted to contact Mr. Nguyen by phone but were unsuccessful.

The Negotiators got inside of a Fire Department Ladder Truck and were lifted up so that they could talk to Mr. Nguyen.

Mr. Nguyen again refused to converse with the deputies.

At that time Mr. Nguyen jumped from the roof.  Mr. Nguyen was unconscious and unresponsive after the fall.  EMS immediately started to administer first aid to Mr. Nguyen.

Mr. Nguyen was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma where he was pronounced dead at 1418 hours.
