Lusby man arrested for Solomons armed robbery

SOLOMONS, MD - On Saturday, May 10 at 6:30PM, Deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Solomons Coin Laundry located at 13954 Solomons Island Road for a report of a robbery. An employee of the laundromat advised that a man displayed a shotgun and demanded money. After giving the suspect a small amount of money, the suspect demanded more. The employee then began to yell that he was being robbed and the suspect fled the establishment. Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a grey pick-up truck operated by a black male. A look-out was then broadcast by the Sheriff's office.
 
A short time later, a Calvert Sheriff's deputy traveling south on Rt 4 observed a vehicle matching the description traveling north near Flag Pond Park. The vehicle was pulled oiver without incident when it was learned that the vehicles had was being driven by a different person than when it was first seen by Deputy Gregory. An interview with the driver revealed that the vehicle was operated by fifty-year-old Michael Duane Rogers of Lusby during the time of the robbery.
 
Rogers was located at his residence and was transported to Solomons Coin Laundry where he was positively identified by the victim as the person who robbed him. Mr. Rogers was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with Armed Robbery, First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Theft Under $100.00 and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Injure.
 
Mr. Rogers is currently being held at the Calvert County Detention Center without bond.
