Blue Crabs win big on Memorial Day
Blue Crabs website (www.somdbluecrabs.com)
The Blue Crabs celebrated Memorial Day by pounding out eleven hits and eight runs in an 8-4 victory over the visiting York Revolution. The win improves Southern Maryland’s record to 16-13 while York drops to 9-21.

The Crabs were led by 3rd baseman Patrick Osborn, who finished the game 3-for-3 with 5 runs batted in and a run scored. Osborn, hitting in the 3-spot in the lineup for the first time, was hit by a pitch in the 5th inning and had to leave the ballgame in the bottom of the 8th with what appeared to be a bruised hip.

Eric Crozier also enjoyed a hot night for the Crabs, belting out two doubles and scoring a run.

Patrick Osborn - 3-run homer in 1st inningIt appeared as if Southern Maryland would be in for a long holiday when starting pitcher Carlos Perez lasted only one-third of an inning, walking two Revolution batters and hitting another. Chris Gale entered the game with the bases loaded, and escaped unscathed by striking out Dryer and inducing a pop-up from Esquival.

The home team would put up four runs in the bottom of the first, keyed by Osborn’s three-run home run. Crozier would double and score soon after on a John Ramistella bloop single to center field.

George Sandel also chipped in, finishing the day 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored. Chris Maples, played at second base, had the other RBI with a single to left in the fifth inning. Chris Gale - Winning Pitcher

The win goes to pitcher Chris Gale, now 2-2 on the season, with Dave Gil taking the loss to go to 0-1.

The Blue Crabs and Revolution will return to Regency Furniture Stadium tomorrow night with an estimated game time of 7:05. Taking the hill for the Blue Crabs will be Ryan Bicondoa (3-2, 3.48 ERA), matching up against right-hander Corey Thurman (0-5, 9.69 ERA). It will be “Reality TV-show” Night at the ballpark.
