The Blue Crabs blew a 4-1 lead by giving up 6 runs in the seventh inning in a 7-5 loss to the York Revolution. The loss drops the Blue Crabs to 16-14 on the season while the Revolution finally break into double digits at 10-21.

Starting pitcher Ryan Bicondoa pitched a strong six innings, giving up three earned runs to go with six strikeouts. Derrek DePriest kept the Crabs in it late, going 1 1/3 innings with zero runs and zero hits in his time on the mound.

The Crabs started out the game on fire, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Sparked by a Curtis Pride single, the Crabs would load the bases before Kyle Nichols drew a walk to force in a run. Adam Shorsher would double to drive in a run as well.

The Crabs offense went stagnant for the next four innings before Adam Shorsher showed some life with a home run to deep left field. The Southern Maryland catcher finished the night 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Revolution then plated their six-spot in the top of the seventh, and the only other run for Southern Maryland came on a Chad Ehrnsberger solo home run to lead off the bottom of the eighth.

Southern Maryland and York will be back at it tomorrow night with the contest slated for 7:05 at Regency Furniture Stadium. It will be “Monkey Madness Night” at the ballpark. Taking the mound for the Blue Crabs will be John Halama, one of the league’s top pitchers with a 3-0 record and 2.21 earned run average.
